BLUEBIRD DEPARTMENT Bluebirds prefer the quiet of suburb fringes, country pastures, golf courses, cemeteries and parks. Bluebirds are insectivorous during their nesting cycle, dining almost exclusively on ground-dwelling insects. Bluebirds will readily accept human handouts of mealworms and bird grubs, often becoming so tame that they can be hand-fed. In addition to residing where there are plenty of insects, bluebirds also like to be provided with a perching spot-a sentinel from which they can survey their kingdom. NEW .... I ordered the meal worms from this company to feed our purple martins.
I wasn't sure what I was going to receive, but after receiving my order 3
days after placing my order I was pleasantly surprised. most companies
send meal worms in a cup like container. this company sent them in a net
bag. after emptying the bedding/feed (which I ordered with the meal worms)
into an enclosed container, I emptied the bag of meal worms into the
container. I cant say that I saw any dead worms. If you want fresh meal
worms at a reasonable price and shipping this is the company to go with.

mealworms for bluebirds. It is so much easier to keep them and feed them
when freeze dried, rather than fresh. I was uncertain the bluebirds would
eat them, but they seem to enjoy them as much as the fresh ones. The birds
come right to the tree when they see me come with their dinner, and after
I walk a few feet away, they land and eat. I definitely will be
purchasing more freeze dried mealworms since my bluebirds are hatching

meal worms. the canned grasshoppers were not a hit with the chipmunk. they
may have been to large and different for her. they were top quality

Lots of birders love to feed their birds mealworms,

What is a "mealworm" you ask?
Mealworms are insects, not really worms. What appears to be a worm is the larval form of the darkling beetle. They make excellent feeders for small mammals, reptiles, and birds.

More about Bluebirds: While the ideal habitat for bluebirds is an open area dominated by short grass and dotted with a few scattered trees, they will also take up residence in wooded areas. Unfortunately, these brushy habitats are the haunt of the House Wren, a boisterous little songster with the nasty habit of pecking the eggs and usurping the nests of other birds. Bluebirds may also choose to nest in farmyards, feed lots and other areas where humans and cattle are found together. Unfortunately, these areas are the almost exclusive domains of the belligerent and prolific House Sparrow. This aggressive exotic, which was introduced into North America from Europe in the mid-1800s, out-competes the gentler bluebird for nesting sites and often takes over the bluebirds’ homes by killing them. In the northern parts of their ranges, bluebirds migrate south for the winter. In the southern regions, they are resident throughout the year. When the weather turns cold, bluebirds readily switch to a diet of berries.

I bought my first order of mealworms for my bluebirds a couple of
months ago and have ordered from them three more times. I placed the order
and within two to three days they arrived in the mail. The price was very
good. A bait store in our town wanted $2.60 for 35 worms and I could get
much more for a reasonable price. The worms arrived alive. The bluebirds
