Unsafe Foods for Short-Tailed Opossums


Unsafe foods are dangerous to opossums because they can cause harm or injury to the animal due to their attributes.

  • Wild Insects (may carry diseases or pesticides)
  • Dairy (causes diarrhea in large amounts)


Unhealthy foods won’t necessarily cause lasting harm to opossums but should still be avoided because of the negative impact on their health.

  • Beef and Pork (too much fat)
  • Other High-Fat Foods
  • High Sugar Foods
  • High Sodium Foods
