It looks good but I need the sand paper one right now
I purchased one of each of the wheel rim types (solid, nail trimming, and this one). When I purchased I was most concerned about the holes and if my hamster would get caught in them. After watching her on the wheel I feel very comfortable about that aspect. No issues there. However, her poop is not really falling through the holes. Sometimes it will after rattling around for a minute, or it just flings out the front as it did with the solid rim. I suppose it could help with the pee a bit better, but only if she pees in the middle of the wheel. Note, when I had the original/solid rim her poop would ~always come out the front eventually, so I ~never had to remove solid poop from inside the wheel. If you do, then maybe this is worth a try, but I don't see it benefiting me or my hamster vs the original. -Joseph F.
If you have a hedgehog, you know that they can be really finicky. He didn't take to his new wheel right away I was about to give up and take it out of his cage...but I first decided after spending the money to get the wheel, to try out the 'self-cleaning' track. Our guy suddenly LOVES his wheel. He's had it for a little over a week and I disassembled the thing to clean it last night...there was only one part of it that had any visible droppings. I soaked the whole thing in soapy water, dried it off and had it back in his cage in less than 15 minutes.
It does in fact need less cleaning because everything goes out of the holes while he runs. He uses this thing every day now.
I was hesitant because I was afraid his little paws might get stuck in one of the holes or something, but it hasn't.
5 stars.
He was getting fat and needed some exercise! -Matthew H.
