I have the only yard around we’re batches of possums come to have babies. I still believe in green grass, fruit trees and a vegetable garden.
I have chickens. Chickens, birds in general will bring rats because of the grain. Rats bring adult possums. Better possums than raccoons.
(The rat population wasn’t bad in our area until someone dropped a box of 12 or more of rats at the end of our alley 1/2 rats, 1/2 dry dog food. )
Often I need to relocate some of the possums . When they are collected in a group I take them to Project Wildlife .
While here I keep them in a large wood tortoise box . Two compartments two doors feeding and pooping and a quiet chamber with an outdoor low heat hard pad under one side of the box.
This way I have very little contact with them because every year they venture into our house. *I would love a discount on a Dutch door. 2 ? I have had a possum climb my black out currents, I have woke up with a possum on my night stand and the next day another trying to come in from the rain storm through my bedroom window. Thank goodness for good windows and screens. We have found them in the front, back and side yard. In my chicken coop . That was a night. I think there may have been a litter in the laundry room adjacent to the garage. I’m grateful they have all been babies. We humanly trap them inside and outside near our doors
I explain because half of animal people will want to tell me it’s bad to feed them, or relocate them. To that I say I can not keep my doors closed all the time. When they make indoors and they do it is it is a bit of a shock. One night at about 2:00 am i walked in my kitchen half asleep looking for a glass of water . Suddenly something scurried under our refrigerator it changes one’s perspective . .
If was a rat I’d shoot it!
So there’s my story… I’ve rescued wild ducks, dogs, cats, rabbits,a reptile of two, crows and other birds we have a fish pond that a huge gray Herron trout he was going to stop and eat my fish. When our kids were young we were the ‘forever home’ we took in animals that were being displaced by families moving or other hardships.
It’s what we do.

I just got a baby skunk and I’m interested in your skunk food. What makes it above and beyond using that and place of puppy food which was recommended.
